This catalogue is the production of Long March Project. Containing materials accumulated from ongoing practice since its inception in 1999, the book also serves to present a partial collection of Long March Objects, made possible by the project “Long March Archive: A Working Redisplay”. A preliminary compilation of Long March Object, that seeks to reveal the method and system of our ongoing archival and cataloguing process, this publication marks the first such volume of the Long March Object catalogue series. In accordance with the concept of Long March Object, this catalogue attempts to democratize all objects (art or non-art) by breaking from the classic definition of an art object, and by questioning the roles authorship and authenticity play in the evaluation of a work of art. Furthermore, all objects are regarded as equal as mediums for collective memory. This catalogue series intends to exist as a perpetual work in progress, expanding in response to the ongoing archival practice of the ever-accumulating Long March Object.
